Janelle Watson, LMFT

CLINICAL APPROACH:

As a client-centered Licensed Clinical Therapist, rapport building is very important to me. I believe that relationships are a key component to our ability to thrive. Some of the biggest stressors in our lives are associated with the relationships we have with our partners, our families, or within ourselves. I prioritize building and maintaining a rapport with my clients so they feel confident in the safe space we’ve created. I work with teens, adults, families, and couples struggling with self-esteem issues, anxiety, and breakdowns of trust and communication.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

My journey to becoming a therapist began when I started providing sexuality education to teens, parents, and professionals. While I loved being able to help large groups of people gain a better understanding of how to make more informed decisions about their bodies and relationships, I knew that there were barriers to change that needed to be addressed on a more individual basis. Now that I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am able to combine my vast practical knowledge of sexuality and relationships with my clinical knowledge of how the state of one’s mental health can affect decision-making. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families in social service agencies, non-profit organizations, and as a private practice clinician.
